Excellence is Not an Act, but a Habit
Over break, I did not intentionally continue my experiment. I love drinking pop and caffeine and honestly, caffeine is what keeps me awake most days. However, for spring break I just went home and had a relaxing week. I slept in almost every day and was wide awake usually without the help of caffeine. Because of this, I was not tempted as much to drink caffeinated drinks. I found myself drinking more milk and water just because I had been in the habit of it and did not feel that I needed the extra energy. I think it is very interesting that I subconsciously did not consume as many caffeinated drinks as I normally would have and I think that Aristotle's quote is very accurate in that it was more because I had gotten in the habit and mind-set of not having caffeine.

That's awesome. That's what happened to me after I gave pop up for lent back in 4th grade. I went so long without drinking it that I no longer wanted it and was used to grabbing bottles of water all the time. It really is much healthier and adds to the longevity of your life. I think you should keep it up now that we're back at school too. Good luck with your paper and hopefully you can continue drinking no pop.
ReplyDeleteIt is really awesome that you continued your experiment without the intention of doing so. Maybe with the right about of sleep you won't have to rely on caffeine as much anymore, but college can be stressful and tiring so it is understandable to need a caffeine fix from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a relaxing Spring Break, even though it was a while ago. It always feels so good when you get enough sleep to start your day and stay energized for the day with out the help of caffeine. I'm sure it has changed since being back at school. I know that it helps keep me going, but I try not to drink it. Its awesome that you didn't have to use caffeine and I hope you can keep it going. It can be really hard sometimes when we have cravings, but a little here and there is fine. Maybe you don't even crave it though. The subconscious is a weird thing. The body will get used to something and be fine with that, or without it, in this case. Congrats to you!
